I completed an in-home appointment today with a client who recently lost her husband. This was a challenge because our last appointment included him giving me a hard time, as usual, and we’d laugh it off and move forward with our plan and implementation.
Through the grace of God, she has mustered up the strength to continue with her journey to home ownership and I couldn’t be more proud of her.
We discussed her financial house and worked on some things to strengthen her foundation. It was during this discussion that I learned that she thought that I ONLY sold homes and helped people with their credit.🙄🙃
This was an eye opener for me and a complete game changer. Please allow me this opportunity to share with you a bit about what I do.
Every aspect of my business model is designed to help families prepare for the unexpected and often inevitable seasons of life that often leaves us breathless and in a whirlwind of emotions.
Death, pandemics, sudden job loss, health issues, legal problems and more can happen to any of us and my goal is to help you establish a strong enough financial foundation so that the flood of events doesn’t overtake you.
Certain things need to be in place in the event any of these things happen to you. It will make for a much easier transition during the most difficult time in your life. Here are a few of your foundational items:
1. Life insurance: This should NOT be an OPTIONAL investment. It’s purpose goes beyond your end of life expenses. It also has living benefits that can be utilized while you are alive in the event that you are diagnosed with a chronic, critical or terminal illness. There are many more options available for life insurance, but these are your foundational reasons. There is a formula used to determine an adequate coverage amount for you that considers your dependents, income, debts and more depending on your unique goals and financial situation. (NOTE: All of these benefits are not available through employer sponsored plans. Always have a personal policy.)
Estate plan: This includes a Last Will and Testament, Power of Attorney documents (financial, medical and durable) Living Trust and Living Will. These documents are your instructions on how to handle your affairs when you are no longer able to do so. Whether you have $50 or $50M, you need an estate plan, especially if you have minor children. (Life insurance can be considered an asset depending on the type of coverage.)
3. Savings: The beginning goal is to have an emergency fund of at least $1,000. The next steps are to have 3, 6, 9, then 12 months of living expenses saved for those mind blowing seasons that life may bring.
4. Retirement Plans: This is not limited to a traditional plan, i.e. 401k, TRS, IRA, etc. This includes an actual strategy for your retirement years. I can refer you to a financial services specialist that can help you establish an annuity where you can rollover a portion or all of your retirement to receive lifetime income from a source that will never lose money. You can start one before retirement (which is preferable) or you can rollover an existing account. It’s never too early to plan for a proper retirement, but we don’t want to be too late.
You see, my approach to service is a holistic one. My mission to help you isn't limited to ONLY buy or sell a home. I want to make sure that you are prepared all the way around. Once you get in the house, I want you to be prepared to stay and prosper beyond measure.
If you already own a home, I want to make sure that you have the proper resources in place to protect you in the event of untimely circumstances.
Will I have all of the answers? Absolutely not, but I’m connected to quite a few people that can help you in areas that I may not be helpful in.
I’m here to serve in the essential areas that are too often ignored until it is too late. If you have breath in your body, you still have time to get a plan in place.
Holistic service with a purpose is what I’m all about.
Thank you for the opportunity to share with you and I hope to serve you soon.
Now, if someone asks you “What does Anjetta do?” What will your response be?
